Commission’s Jin Kay, Dylan Cao, and Huy Luong – three South Korea and Vietnam-born, New York-based designers whose 2018-founded label first took inspiration from their parents’ wardrobes, has evolved to interpret American style codes from the perspectives of non-natives. For autumn/winter 2022, the brand infused its intentionally mundane, everyday and corporate silhouettes with signature silhouettes of the United States: Western shirts, cowboy boots, chunky Wrangler belt loops, workwear pants. During their research phase, the trio spent time with their closest Asian-American friends and learnt about their different cultural experiences, living in New York, California and even on a ranch in Oklahoma.
